After looking at my new (!) degree plan, I found out that I am really close to getting all of my core, mass comm core, and print classes out of the way. Which I think *although I'd have to check with whoever my new adviser turns out to be) means I'll be able to take almost all electives during my last two semesters. If I wanted to.

I am inordinately excited about that.

Also, my gramma is trying to guilt trip me into visiting this summer. She is really good at that. Not that I don't want to visit! Just... the woman has skills, that's all I'm saying.

Why am I so tired.

In other news, I'm thinking I might take a day or two off work this week to clean up and check out apartments. Although I still don't have my Texas ID or all the paperwork I need to get it (it's being processed, I believe) so it's sort of pointless right now, but... I'm driving myself crazy worrying about moving and I think this will help.

My mom's not exactly being helpful, either. One minute she's supportive and encouraging me to leave, the next she'll be pulling that "But are you really sure?" schtick Moms are so good at. Ugh.

Other than that, though, life is good.

All right, I know it's my own fault for coming to work when I thought I might have the flu, but wauuugh. The only reason I haven't left yet is because I want to squeeze out one more hour. That and walking home is going to suck.

Yesterday was good, though. Getting together with old friends always is.

I learned something today!

Telling myself I'm being impatient about moving and that a lot of my worries about moving are a) not my problem and b) not as bad as I think they are really does not stop me from stressing out about it.

Only sleeping for 4 hours, though, seems to help. Yay for being too tired to care?

Also, work was insane today. I had to help out at our booth for this local Science Fair. So many kids, so many hours of explaining the same stuff over and over... oy. It wasn't nearly as bad as last year, though.
At least I got some rest time this time.

Oh and I changed my mind about moving to IJ. Clearly. Still considering starting a personal journal, though, and just using this one for fandom stuff.

Also, I got a free t-shirt! Yay.

Good News: I don't have as much stuff due today as I thought I did.

Bad News: It's all due next Thursday and I think I may have left my flash drive in the Computer Lab. Great. I wouldn't complain but now I have to go back to school instead of having the long, leisurely afternoon spent catching up that I planned on.

...I swear I will talk about something other than college at some point. Just not for, oh, two weeks.

Animorphs Dressing Room and Energy Drinks

First things first: I'm thinking of starting an Animorphs Dressing Room Game. Would anyone be interested in joining? If I did it, should I do it on LJ or Insane Journal? (If you don't know what a Dressing Room Game is, it's just a place for any kind of characters from a fandom to interact - without having to apply or do drama.)

Second, yesterday's Lesson of the Day:

No, two Pop Tarts is not enough to keep an energy drink from going straight through you... and those warnings on the can are there for a reason.

I'm fine now, so nobody panic, but yesterday I had some wicked chest pains. I almost started crying during Law class, to give an idea of how bad they were. Then I thought I was going to pass out on the way to the cafeteria after Law. Luckily, I didn't, and I felt much better after I had some lunch - but to cut a long story short, I won't be having energy drinks for a while.

One: My mom and I had a fight, and then a talk, today. After we made up, we both came to an agreement that maybe it would be best if I moved out. Not now - not until the fall semester, at least - but I'm going to start planning for it. I understand her concerns about how moving would affect me academically, and whether I'm really ready for it, but I think she sees where I'm coming from now. Like I told her... if I can't make it on my own when I'm still living close to home and able to look to Mom for support, then I never will.

Two: I really don't care if LJ gets rid of basic accounts. But I do care about customer service, and I continue to be disappointed with LJ's customer service. So I'm starting to think about paying for an IJ account.

Three: I have "new" Rachel and Loren fics over at jotjunkie. I also plan to catch up on drabbles for marvel_100.

Four: I need to be careful around energy drinks. Especially when I'm drinking them on an empty stomach. What a buzz! And, oh, what a crash.

Midterms are finally over, which means I can finally relax after three weeks of near nonstop work. I have things I want to post about - my Christmas trip, caucausing in Texas, school in general, great books I've read, and silly fandom stuff (of course) - but for now I think I'm just going to chill out.

So, who's taking lunch break time to update their LJ because their computer's been down for about a week? Not me. Never me.

Anyway, I had a great time visiting my family in Dallas and Austin. My sister is growing up to be a seriously cool kid, you guys, and I was really happy to see she loved the gift I gave her. (Season 1 set of Magic Knight Rayearth DVDs - on sale, thank goodness.) I also finally got to meet my aunt and uncle on my dad's side! They're very cool, laid back people. Also, I went on a shopping trip with them, sis, and my gramma and Aunt Patty. Shopping with Gramma and Patty is always fun and I got some really cute clothes out of it! Hurrah. Oh, and I saw my stepmom again, and Sally is cool as always. She gave me and Mom some homemade soaps for Christmas. Tons of them, I should say. I haven't tried them all yet but the mocha scrub is to die for. It smells soooo good. Dad got me cash (like always) with which I bought a really great book, Planet Simpson, which is a very in-depth analysis of the show, the characters, the satire, the writing, the production, and its impact.

And thus sums up my vacation.

I haven't done much since but dread the day the next semester starts. I am not looking forward to Advertising/PR classes at all. Desktop Publishing will be great, and Law will be hella hard but interesting, while Advertising and PR don't interest me at all.

I've also been looking at apartments. I don't plan on moving out soon, but I tentatively plan to after this semester, and there's a place offering a lot of close apartments in my price range. (I think.)

01. Which fandom do you like playing in most and why?
Animorphs, always. I chalk this up to the (for the most part) great canon. KAA created some great characters and a world full of themes that are fun to write about. Plus, there were lots of wacky aliens and crazy sci-fi plots.

However, Marvel fandom comes close - ironically because the canon's not so great, sometimes. In comics fics there's a lot of freedom. You can write almost anything without worrying about the plot, ships, parts of canon you hate, etc - as long as it's in-character.

02. Would you like to compile with me an FST for our RL? D= Or save trouble by just sharing music this Christmas?
If you want to compose a FST, go ahead! Sounds like fun, but I'll be happy either way.

03. What's one article of clothing you can't do without?
A pair of pants.

04. You mentioned being in love in your latest meme. With who? And since you said the definition's different now, what's your definition of love today?
Who? My first crush and the boys I've had serious crushes on since. Why? Well, I did love my first crush - in the way a twelve-year-old loves. To someone experiencing those feelings for the first time, yeah, that's love... but if I had those feelings now, I'd just consider it infatuation. Because a lot of it was just me thinking: "Oh my god, you're cute." Not to say I didn't like a lot of other things about him - we were good friends - but still, it was mostly infatuation. And it's a similar reason for the others. As you know, I had it pretty bad for some of these guys, but I never bothered to tell them that. Which I think makes it wrong for me to say I loved them. I realize now that you do have to risk rejection and/or all the stuff that comes with a relationship. If you're not willing to do that, eventually, I don't think it's love.

05. CHALLENGE. How many cats do you have?
A lot. :3 Although technically they're mom's cats. I consider two "mine", though, because they're very attached to me.

Oh god, Mai-HiME is the most emotionally wrenching anime I've seen in ages. End of story. Well... not quite. All I have to say is, if you haven't seen it, do check it out. The beginning is quite funny, the characters are great, and the ending is just... I could stop watching or crying.

In other news, the noodle seafood soup at our local Thai place is so good!!! Super-spicy but soooo good.

Also, today I saw two friends I hadn't seen in a long time. That made me really happy.

Oh, and I'm off work until the New Year. Which is nice, I have to admit. I've been coming in later now that school's out, but I've been working a lot longer, too. It was getting kind of tiring.

And I am SO EXCITED about getting to see my family! Oh, and excited about Christmas with the rest of my family, too, of course!

80% of this is about a fandom only I care about.

So, like, last night I couldn't sleep. And because I'm me, this obviously meant that the solution was to write fanfic until I passed out or something. Right? Okay, so I tried doing that.

And once again my Elfangor and Ax plotbunnies refused to write themselves in a way that was not total suck. (Although I think I may have finally figured out a solution to that.)

So then I decided I'd just switch fandoms totally and write some silly fic about various people flirting with Darkdevil because flustered violent vigilantes are win. Right? Okay, right, so then I tried to do that. Then somehow it instead morphed into this epic fic series of how, instead of being flirted at, Darkdevil makes friends with half of the MC2 by being an antisocial woobie. (Shut up, it's my fic, it can work like that.)

Then after having spent almost all night writing most of the first chapter, my computer froze. In an AWESOME MOVE OF AMAZING INTELLIGENCE I didn't save the damn thing. Not even once. I did, however, manage to re-write about half of it! So hurrah for me.

Still, I can't help but feel like I should've worked on my "Victorious kills all the Runaways and Gert angsts about it" epic instead.

An-y-way, I really need to get ready and go to work. Ta-ta!

- I am trapped in TV Tropes. Send help.
- I love Lovely Complex! I wish there were more snarky and adorable (snarkadorable?) series about short guys and tall girls.
- I started really playing FF7 for the first time. I'm not sure I can stop.
- It's really frustrating to want to write fic about Elfangor and Ax's childhood and hating every single story you've tried to write about it. :/
- Spider-Girl's 10 year anniversary issue comes out today! ♥ My local comic store won't have it, of course, but still.
- I am loving the flood of old-school Spidey scans pouring into scans_daily.
- The new Buffy comics are just cementing my theory that Faith's bi. Also, ♥ Buffy comics.
- I still love Utena. So, so much. So, so glad I finally watched it.
- Surprisingly, the same goes for Evangelion. Sort of. Mostly.
- Really looking forward to finding out what anime series my sister likes.
- Almost everyone I know has been reminding me that I need to watch Heroes someday, but these same people also keep complaining about the second season. So, friends list, what do you think I should do?

Working on a week's worth of homework my lazy ass didn't do during Thanksgiving on three hours of sleep? GOOD TIMES. But on the bright side, it seems like I'll be going to see my Dad's family this holiday season, which I haven't done in forever. Also, seeing family at Thanksgiving was nice.

Getting in a fight with my mom this morning over civil unions? (She's for them, I feel it sets gay rights back.) That was not so nice. But now I am too tired to care.

Okay, I'm really glad my old silly Goosebumps fanfic has a fan. Really, I am! It's much better than having that one weird person who kept flaming it for no reason. I'm very, very glad that they'd like me to continue it.

Still.

Do they have to keep spamming me, leaving "reviews" for my other fics that aren't reviews at all, just another plea for an update?! Jeez.

Anyway, I think I'll have a post about real life stuff sometime this week. Two weeks in and this semester's already crazy. Man.
