Writing Meme!
I thought I'd try a different kind of challenge this time! Here's how it works: you give me a song and a fandom (or character). I write a drabble and/or short fic based on the lyrics and fandom.

Uh. Go?

Five Things Meme.
Augh. I cannot concentrate on this article to save my life.

Since I obviously need a distraction, give me "Five Things" lists to write. Any fandom (that I know of!) or character (that I know of!). If you need examples, here's a few: Five Jokes Marco Wishes He Told, Five Things Ax Won't Eat, Five Times Shinji Didn't Run Away, Five Times MJ Checked Out Spidey's Butt... etc, etc.)

80% of this is about a fandom only I care about.
So, like, last night I couldn't sleep. And because I'm me, this obviously meant that the solution was to write fanfic until I passed out or something. Right? Okay, so I tried doing that.

And once again my Elfangor and Ax plotbunnies refused to write themselves in a way that was not total suck. (Although I think I may have finally figured out a solution to that.)

So then I decided I'd just switch fandoms totally and write some silly fic about various people flirting with Darkdevil because flustered violent vigilantes are win. Right? Okay, right, so then I tried to do that. Then somehow it instead morphed into this epic fic series of how, instead of being flirted at, Darkdevil makes friends with half of the MC2 by being an antisocial woobie. (Shut up, it's my fic, it can work like that.)

Then after having spent almost all night writing most of the first chapter, my computer froze. In an AWESOME MOVE OF AMAZING INTELLIGENCE I didn't save the damn thing. Not even once. I did, however, manage to re-write about half of it! So hurrah for me.

Still, I can't help but feel like I should've worked on my "Victorious kills all the Runaways and Gert angsts about it" epic instead.

An-y-way, I really need to get ready and go to work. Ta-ta!

Now I know why some people hate their fans.
Okay, I'm really glad my old silly Goosebumps fanfic has a fan. Really, I am! It's much better than having that one weird person who kept flaming it for no reason. I'm very, very glad that they'd like me to continue it.

Still.

Do they have to keep spamming me, leaving "reviews" for my other fics that aren't reviews at all, just another plea for an update?! Jeez.

Anyway, I think I'll have a post about real life stuff sometime this week. Two weeks in and this semester's already crazy. Man.

Ficathon Pimping and Ben/Chase OTP
All the Spidey fans on my list, check this out. It's a collection of fics for an Unmasking ficathon. Volunteer if you want to write something and/or pimp it if you're interested.

On a related note, thanks to the Marvel Crack Pairing Generator, I want to write something about Ben Reilly and Chase. Thanks, Crack Generator. That would be the best idea ever if I could figure out a way to make a dead Spider-Man come back and slap some sense into a punk from L.A.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is... ideas, anyone?

My local comics store is still selling Spider-Girl 98. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! Grr argh wail moan.

Also, because I'm bored and in the mood to write, a question.

Just how many of you do I owe fic? I know I need to pay back [info]lizzypaul, [info]perpetual_poet, [info]nyonyo, and [info]sarisia many times over, but who else?

In addition? WHEE MY COMICS STORE IS SELLING RUNAWAYS AGAIN. I'm being attacked by Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, and Estrid plotbunnies. (Shush, I conviently forgot my [info]1sentence Marco/Ax project.) Had an excellent weekend, though I'm now considering homicide. And I need to register for classes.

So, writing dialogue for snarking, angsting, and occasionally silly Mayday and Reilly? Surprisingly easy. I could do it for pages and ages. Writing the situations that lead to them being snarky/angsty/silly, though? So. Much. Harder.

I really need to hone my description skills. Or, well...I'm not even sure that's the problem. It's more like this: I start out with a very clear visual of story events and clear ideas of how things will happen in a story, but I always seem to lose it right in the middle of writing. It's so annoying. It's making my [info]1sentenceproject pretty difficult, too.

Except when I'm writing dialogue, because then the characters can just bounce off each other, like in a real conversation. Oh well, I'll finish my fics eventually, anyway.

On a different, but related, topic -- now I remember why I stopped reading comics and manga: it gets so expensive! I have found a great site which offers single issues and trades for cheap, but finding a subscription whose price won't rape my wallet is proving impossible.

Also, yes, I realized I have no idea what I'm doing in my homework. BUT I'M GOING TO IGNORE THAT RIGHT NOW.

Drabble Meme
Snagged from [info]lizzypaul.

The first 10 people to comment on this post get to request a drabble (real drabble: 100 words exactly) from you. In return, they have to post this in their journal and write a drabble for you. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for. (this is optional; you don't HAVE to do it in return, but it would be pretty spiffy if you did)

Your friends can pick a relationship, a story arc, a missing scene, or pretty much anything they want, unless the author has previously mentioned that they will not write it. They comment with what they want, and you write drabbles and post it in your LiveJournal.

Fandoms I can write for: Animorphs, Digimon (any season except Frontier), Zelda, Final Fantasy 1, 9, and 10, Buffy, Angel, Harry Potter, Runaways, Spider-Man (preferably Movieverse), and Spider-Girl.

I promise I'll really write them this time, guys. ^^;

For realz.
So, yeah. Confession time.

I think you should all know something. I hate each and every one of you, with every fiber of my being. If I could, I would sneak into your homes and rape and pillage and burn things. Especially burning, because fire is pretty. I would destroy everything that is precious to you. Especially your Animorphs books. Which reminds me, don't any of you people have lives? I mean, when I was getting to know you all, I kept thinking "There's no way these people can really be so obsessed with kids books, and video games, and comics, and celebrities and all the LAME STUPID, STUPID, STUPID SHIT? Is there? Oh god, is there?" (And why are so many of them gay?)

I wanted to believe it was just a clever, geekish facade. That perhaps you were all coming off a little strong in your various obsessions, just so unbelievably glad to find people with common interests. (Though why you'd be interested in this shit, I have no idea.) But no, my short interweb life has taught me one thing: You are all fat, stinky, pimply idiots who live in your mother's basements, jacking off to cartoons and children's literature.

At first, I was going to keep you all on my friends list out of morbid amusement. I knew it was wrong to laugh at such sad sacks of humanflesh, yet, your pathetic little lives made me chuckle after my long days of making love to sweaty, attractive young men. In various positions at various hours of the day, I might add. Possibly for cash, but I'm not supposed to mention that legally. ANYWAY.

I am leaving the internet forever.

BECAUSE I'M MAD AS HELL AND I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I CAN'T STAND READING ABOUT YOUR "SQUEE" AND YOUR "MEMES" AND YOUR GODAWFUL FANFICS. BY THE WAY, WHO THE FUCK WRITES FANFIC? I STOLE ALL MINE FROM THIS SAILORSUN CHICK. SHE WAS AWESOME. ANYWAY, I'M DONE. DONE, DO YOU HEAR ME, DONE?

Sorry if I've hurt your feelings by saying this, but I just couldn't hold it in anymore. You see, I'm dying of cancer.

Love,
The Nix

PS: I fucking hate Marco/Ax.

I almost Aristocrats'd you all, but I pussied out halfway through writing it.

Snagged from [info]nightwalker:

If you make up titles for stories I didn't write, I will respond with details of those non-written stories. Just think of the possibilities! (If you'd like to include details you'd like, pairings or fandom or something, do that too.)

On a semi-related note, I'm really wanting to write a Spider-Girl/Runaways crossover. It's not too crazy to think Spider-Girl could be part of Future!Gert's Avengers, is it?

And, finally...

I'm a Nine! )

the Peacemaker
Test finished!
you chose BX - your Enneagram type is NINE.

"I am at peace"

Peacemakers are receptive, good-natured, and supportive. They seek union with others and the world around them.

How to Get Along with Me

  • I like to listen and to be of service, but don't take advatage of this.
  • Listen until I finish speaking, even though I meander a bit.
  • Give me time to finish things and make decisions. It's OK to nudge me gently and nonjudgmentally.
  • Ask me questions to help me get clear.
  • Tell me when you like how I look. I'm not averse to flattery.
  • Hug me, show physical affection. It opens me up to my feelings.
  • I like a good discussion but not a confrontation.
  • Let me know you like what I've done or said.
  • Laugh with me and share in my enjoyment of life.

What I Like About Being a Nine

  • being nonjudgmental and accepting
  • caring for and being concerned about others
  • being able to relax and have a good time
  • knowing that most people enjoy my company; I'm easy to be around
  • my ability to see many different sides of an issue and to be a good mediator and facilitator
  • my heightened awareness of sensations, aesthetics, and the here and now
  • being able to go with the flow and feel one with the universe

What's Hard About Being a Nine

  • being judged and misunderstood for being placid and/or indecisive
  • being critical of myself for lacking initiative and discipline
  • being too sensitive to criticism; taking every raised eyebrow and twitch of the mouth personally
  • being confused about what I really want
  • caring too much about what others will think of me
  • not being listened to or taken seriously

Nines as Children Often

  • feel ignored and that their wants, opinions, and feelings are unimportant
  • tune out a lot, especially when others argue
  • are "good" children: deny anger or keep it to themselves

Nines as Parents

  • are supportive, kind, and warm
  • are sometimes overly permissive or nondirective

    Job No Job! And Austin.
So, I think I may have gotten a job and lost it within two days. I'm not exactly sure. My boss didn't say "you're fired", just told me that he'd only be using me when he needed someone to fill in for everyone else. So I guess my job will just be taking even less of my time than I expected.

In other words: CURSE YOU, INABILITY TO DRIVE!

However, this little conversation was priceless:

Boss: You do have a Texas driver's license, right?
    Me: Um...no? No, I really don't.

Followed by stunned silence, of course, because everyone in the world can drive! Right? Right! It's not like there's people that aren't a) abled or b) able to afford driving lessons or c) owning a car. That's crazy talk! (Translation: No, I can't drive, because I never got those driving lessons Mom insisted I get, what with my being disabled and all. Why not? We're poor. Also, we don't have a car, so I couldn't learn from at home and/or from a friend anyway.)

On the plus side, though, my boss is giving my application to the editor. So maybe I'll get a job actually writing for the paper. It's a slim chance, no doubt, but it is possible. And I'll be getting a check for the work I did over the weekend. So...not all is gloom, at least not yet.

Anyway, like I said before I decided to edit this post, I'm off to Austin in a few hours. Won't be back 'til Saturday. I can't wait to see the geek in training my little sister, dad, stepmom, and everybody else. Plus, there'll be the annual feeding of Georgia's addiction big 'ol can of olivies. Plus, Austin. I love Austin. I can't wait!

(However, the assignments I still have to finish? They can die. Especially if my editor assigns something over the break, because then I will be forced to kill her horribly.)

Also, because I love pushing crack: Kenny and Kyle from South Park, as bishounen. Utena-style bishounen (I'm not yanking your chain, check out the art) and really good fanfic about Drode.

    Have a great holiday, all!

    Discovery of the Day:

Not really the kind of pairing I'd normally get into, but I was browsing for fics today, and thought "Why the hell not?"

Turns out, Dawn/Connor has some really cute, sweet, hot, and fun smutfic. Definitely a pairing I need to check out. Come to think of it, I'd really like a Post-AtS Connor/Dawn fic, of whatever rating. Anyone have any recs?

Also, I'm thinking of doing Loren/Elfangor for [info]30_kisses. Gasp, shock, I didn't choose Marco/Ax! Yeah, well, I do like other pairings, and I have lots of fluffy ideas for this couple that I need to write out.

    That's Irony, Children.
So. After I mention in [info]animorphsfanfic that I don't like fics that use rape as a romantic device, I get a bunny for a Melissa/Tom fic that has rape in it.

    Very funny, brain. Except not.

It's still a good idea for a story, though, if not particularly pleasant...maybe it's a good thing my laptop is broken right now.

However, I pimp this awesome Marco/Ax smutfic to the masses. [info]lizzypaul rocks my socks. There's also an interesting discussion going on about Andalite sexuality in the comments, if you're interested.

Anyway, today's lesson? Bitch a lot about the kind of fanfic you'd like to see, and lo, it shall appear. Hopefully.
