I thought I'd try a different kind of challenge this time! Here's how it works: you give me a song and a fandom (or character). I write a drabble and/or short fic based on the lyrics and fandom.

Augh. I cannot concentrate on this article to save my life.

Since I obviously need a distraction, give me "Five Things" lists to write. Any fandom (that I know of!) or character (that I know of!). If you need examples, here's a few: Five Jokes Marco Wishes He Told, Five Things Ax Won't Eat, Five Times Shinji Didn't Run Away, Five Times MJ Checked Out Spidey's Butt... etc, etc.)

So, writing dialogue for snarking, angsting, and occasionally silly Mayday and Reilly? Surprisingly easy. I could do it for pages and ages. Writing the situations that lead to them being snarky/angsty/silly, though? So. Much. Harder.

I really need to hone my description skills. Or, well...I'm not even sure that's the problem. It's more like this: I start out with a very clear visual of story events and clear ideas of how things will happen in a story, but I always seem to lose it right in the middle of writing. It's so annoying. It's making my 1sentenceproject pretty difficult, too.

Except when I'm writing dialogue, because then the characters can just bounce off each other, like in a real conversation. Oh well, I'll finish my fics eventually, anyway.

On a different, but related, topic -- now I remember why I stopped reading comics and manga: it gets so expensive! I have found a great site which offers single issues and trades for cheap, but finding a subscription whose price won't rape my wallet is proving impossible. 

Also, yes, I realized I have no idea what I'm doing in my homework. BUT I'M GOING TO IGNORE THAT RIGHT NOW.

So last night, I kind of got a story idea. And it's screaming at me "WRITE ME, BITCH!"

I'll do as it commands. After I get my college calling done, that is.

It's a fantasy story, but with a twist -- I won't tell what until I post it (and I intend to finish this). I'm pretty stoked about one of the characters. I have no idea what her name is yet, but I'm already thinking of her as the bastard child of Nico from and Runaways and Harold from Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.

I also have come to realize that Neil Gaiman is, in fact, my ideal boyfriend. For crying out loud, he's a writer of fantasy, sci-fi, and comic books. He's also British, and may I add, also hot in that weird sort-of-creepy way. Speaking as a geek girl -- what geek girl wouldn't want a piece of that? Alas, our passion is forbidden, as he is married.

At least in my head, he and Jon Stewart can duke it out for my love.

PS: I have not slept since seven last night. YAY INSOMNIA.

PPS: LESSON OF THE DAY! If it is four in the morning, and you find that in your attempts to go to sleep, you have decided to draw on your cheapo white tennis shoes, please just stick with sharpie and/or colored markers. Do not, I repeat do not upgrade to painting on them with fingernail polish. After figuring out that it looks stupid, you will also discover it has dried and will not come off. You will have then sentenced your cheapo white tennis to a slow, agonizing death in the trashcan.

And, yes, I did do that last night.

WARNING, WARNING! This will be yet another in a series of entries where I talk about things of no importance whatsoever.

With that said, let me begin.

I have a shiny new layout and yet another shiny new icon. The icon is from iconographic. I really love that girl's stuff. I also have a new layout to go with it.
Speaking of icons, I'm thinking of starting up an icon journal. Why? Well, first of all, I have a batch of Runaways icons to show off (once I finish them, that is) and besides, I'd been thinking of making one for a while.

Speaking of journals that aren't this one, the Jot Junkie website (the bigger version of my writing journal, jotjunkie, if you will) is about 85% done. The content's almost all finished, it's just that I decided I need to make the layout. It should be up in a day or two. All my writing, even the crap, from '99 to now. Fanfics, originals, short stories, lyrics. Every single one. Ph34r.

Also, some of you might be missing my posts on FFX. (I don't know why you would, but hey, I don't judge.)
They have disappeared because my gameplay has come to a halt...sort of. Why? I decided to get the Ultimate Weapons. I am a fucking masochist. You see, what I didn't realize about getting the Ultimate Weapons was that it was going to take a lot more work than I realized -- I just figured it would take me a few days, at most. Oh, naive me. Instead, it's taken me weeks. So I'm about to throw in the towel on that wrestling match. After I get Yuna and Auron's weapons, that's it. I'll build custom ones for Wakka, Tidus, and Kimhari. Then I will kick Sin's tail (pun not intended).

I would say things about HP fandom, but they're not coming out like I want them to. So I won't. Well, no, I have one thing to say: I've never been happier I'm not that involved in Pottermania.

Today was my little sister's birthday. She's nine now, and I can't believe it. Feels like she was just six not that long ago...and now she's as old as I was when she was born. It's a weird thing, but anyway -- I just wanted to mention that I freaking love her and I'm glad she had a great day.

To keep my promise to Christina, here is why I was up last night: I got all weepy over guys and, more or less, spent the night psychobabbling to myself. Despite the absolute emotasticness of the whole thing, it was good for me -- I've come to realize some things about my attitude towards men in general. I was going to do a post about it, but I decided not to because I just found it all hard to explain. (And maybe too personal for the 'net.)

Better than the long post about how much I love the brat my sister, though. I'm glad I didn't write that one, for her sake.

But the real reason behind my post -- I have started a new project. Hopefully, by the end of the week, I'll have opened the a website to go along with my writing journal, jotjunkie. It'll have all my writings, both fanfic and original, up for view. And, fingers crossed, some new stories. Watch here for a link.

Me: **whimpers** Okay.

Getting on the horse and doing some research on colleges in my state. Despite insane costs, I'm listening to Beatles and finding myself deliriously happy because of it.

Beatles make everything better.

Also, I really am getting a leg up on the next chapter of Threads of Fate, even if I am behind. So, yeah!

My personal goal is to finish writing the first six chapters of ToF and Superboy before summer is over and sneaking in a few chapters of the George/Luna fic if I can. Wish me luck, guys!

And I got some really friggin' cool pants, but that was a few days ago. =P

I wrote for it again. Whoopee.

I need a new LJ icon. I mean, I like this one and all, but it's pretty...blah.

Anyway, there was a point to this post, I know it...oh yeah, to bitch about my laptop and how I can't do anything on it because the keyboard crapped out and it's really a piece of crap anyway that my mom only gave to me because she split water on it and got a spiffy new 'top of her own.

But I'm not gonna bitch too much 'cause Mom's agreed to buy me a new (uber-cheap) one as long as I chip in on the payment. And, yeah, it doesn't have a battery so I can't lug it around and no CD drive...so it's pretty much like my old one, but it'll work! And that's the important thing.

And also, with my laptop dying and all, I don't know when I'll be updating my fics. 'Cause I don't like writing on the shared comp...makes me nervous for some reason. But I've got the start of the next ToF chappie in my journal. Maybe I'll post it sometime.
But on the plus side it gives me time to get my ass into gear and update my sites, so there's a plus.

I called Christy's today. They weren't home. So, yeah, I'm going to wait and see if Christy or Monica calls me back.

And also, I need to call Andy tomorrow. I miss him, we haven't talked since school let out.

Yeah, that's pretty much all I had to say. Well, plus this little nugget of information I gathered while updating my collective: I have way too many websites. I really need to look into getting a new host for the fanlistings that'll support the fl-scripts I've found, because it's a pain in the neck to update them manually.

My entire world is crumbling. Okay, not really. But that's pretty messed up.

And, yeah, I had this long blog about Kim's concert and seeing a kazillion people that I wrote last night, but it's on my laptop and I'm too lazy to get it, so I don't know when or if I'll post it. It's sort of interesting, though, so I might.

I'm also thinking of adding on a personal site/place for my writing to the ever-growing posse of sites on the collective. Sites which I'm not sure I'm going to keep when I go to college. But that's a long way away and another post entirely.

I swear, I'll post something more interesting later.

All right, I've decided I'm going to finish writing that last chapter of Superboy tonight, even if it turns out like crap and I don't really have it planned out. Big whoop. I'm tired of putting off other stuff while I "get in the mood" to write that thing.

And on things people might care about, I'm going to Hastings tomorrow. Hopefully I'll remember to check and ask when/if Kim's next concert is, since I feel guilty about missing her last one. (And note to self: Tell Christina when it is too, I want to go with her.)

And since I am mentioning Kim, I thought I should just announce that I am no longer crushing or longing or whatever-ing on Timmy boy. Go me. Plenty of other fish in the sea, anyway. (And as Kim would say -- he's jailbait! Jailbait! XD)

I feel proud of myself.
